I am honored to have been invited to present at the “New Technology and Mental Health conference during the EXPO 2020 in Dubai. I took the opportunity to have my PPv2 tool translated into Arabic. I thank Dr. Amina Benmaouche (McGill Psychiatry resident) and Dr. Ibrahim Althiyabi (McGill Psychiatry fellow resident) for this work. I hope you will find the tool useful.

This website is dedicated to Research and Teaching on Innovative Practices in the Treatment of Psychosis by Dr. Tin Ngo-Minh. (REPIT Psychose: Recherche et l’Enseignement sur les Pratiques Innovantes dans le Traitement de la Psychose)

Research must be interwoven with clinical practice otherwise it becomes a lost potential, a stifled enthusiasm, a wasted creativity. I publish on this site the ePPv2.0, the electronic version of the PPv2.0 (Psychoeducational Tool on Psychosis v2.0), the “complementary web tools” referenced in the PPv2.0, as well as other original standalone psychoeducational tools. The PPv2.0 was created in 2016 as part of the implementation of the First Episode of Psychosis FEP clinic in the Outaouais, Québec, Canada. An overall philosophy of care, standardization of clinical knowledge/skills and a consistent therapeutic vocabulary was needed to be implemented along with an administrative and clinical framework. The tool continues to serve this purpose and is the subject of a research project. It has also been disseminated to several FEP clinics and general mental health clinics in Quebec. The PPv2.0 tool has been significantly re-edited in 2020 and is available electronically as well as in table calendar format. An updated translation of the 2025-2026 tool in English is now available.

The purpose of this website is:

  • to share the psychoeducational tools developed by Dr. Ngo-Minh for the promotion of personalized mental health care;
  • to promote the implementation of the tools and improve the quality of care for patients and their families;
  • to promote knowledge sharing and the development of innovations in the treatment of psychosis, and more specifically, in patient engagement in their care;
  • To foster exchange among tool users to promote its continuous improvement.

The creation of new tools is an ongoing process interwoven to daily clinical practice. The most recent developments will be posted here. This site should be updated regularly. Check here for new publications of tools.

News

February 2025:

  • The 2025-2026 English version of PPv2.0 has arrived! Contact me to find out how to get a paper copy of the PPv2.0 calendar or access the online version e-PPv2.0
  • New features:
    • Introduction and integration of the “therapeutic dice” created to facilitate the application of the KEY to Freedom (in French: “CLÉ de la Liberté”). https://dice.deprescription.org/
    • Complete revision of content: simplification and clarification of content
    • Addition of a page comparing and analogizing the treatment of a fracture with the treatment of mental disorders.
    • The notion of spirituality as a psychotherapeutic element is simplified and made even more accessible. This is the fruit of numerous discussions with Mr. Simon Longpré of the SQS as part of the creation of a training course on spirituality in mental health.
    • The English translation of the PPv2.0 is finally available in 2025. The last translation dated from 2021. The translation was difficult but satisfactory as many concepts and acronyms were originally created in the language of Molière
      • La CLÉ de la liberté in French is KEY of Freedom
        • KKnow your limits. Know that balance sets you free. Set & respect limits for yourself & others; practice letting go & acceptance
        • EEngage & make an effort every day to expose yourself to new experiences that you would normally avoid; embrace the
        • YYES MAN! philosophy to flip your usual patterns & practice doing the opposite of your unhealthy habits to regain your balance and therefore your freedom
      •  CP2e (Confiance, Patience, engagement et espoir) (www.cp2e.org) in French is translated as the•P (https://en.cp2e.org),in reference to the meaning of life, “the Point of Life”, but also the title of a well-known song “The Prayer” performed by Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli in 1999. “the•P” is thus the English equivalent of CP2e:
        • t – trust (Confiance)
        • h – hope (espoir)
        • e – engagement (engagement)
        • P – Patience (Patience)

The concept thus refers to a prayer that one can make when feeling hopeless after numerous failed attempts to improve one’s situation; it can also refer to the meaning of life which is to be engaged, to keep building, and to move forward without knowing exactly where or why. Meaning emerges through action and commitment. The meaning of life is often said to lie not in the destination, but in the journey.

      • AiLES (Autodétermination, identité, Lien social, Espoir, Sens) is our French translation of the original CHIME acronym (Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning, Empowerment) representing the conceptual framework of recovery.
      • Acrostic R-E-C-O-V-E-R-Y (RÉTABLISSEMENT in French): integrative model of PPv2.0 concepts to remind patients and their caregivers of common ingredients and strategies for recovery. *Yet to be translated in English”
      • Recovery work documents: pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment plans; signs and symptoms and observation sheets. (*to be translated*)

I am announcing the launch of the CPAC-APCC (Community Psychiatry Association of Canada – L’Association pour la Psychiatrie Communautaire du Canada): https://www.cpac-apcc.org/. This new association will promote and provide accredited training on the PPv2.0 tool to all mental health professionals, extending beyond a single professional group.
